“O come piace” (as it pleases) – Legrenzi’s invitation becomes the guiding thread through 17th-century Italy. This programme moves freely between sacred lullabies, theatrical laments and virtuosic sonatas, showing how composers from Monteverdi to Farina delighted in blending form and style to expression, invention and pleasure.
Bellot Ensemble are a dynamic period instrument group known for their energetic performances and style-specific improvisation. Specialising in 17th-century repertoire, the ensemble combines rigorous historical research with spontaneous creativity, sharing the joy of this glorious repertoire with their audiences.

Jubilee Goes Global presents Buena Vista Social Club Night with the Edgar Macias Quintet
UK-based Venezuelan pianist Edgar Macias has become a highly regarded performer known for his versatility across genres ranging from jazz to salsa. Over the course of his impressive career, he has collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Wynton Marsalis, David Murray, Scott Hamilton, and Bobby Wellins. This evening, he presents a special tribute to the legendary Cuban ensemble The Buena Vista Social Club. The group and their Grammy Award–winning 1996 album achieved global acclaim, selling over 8 million copies.
Joined by Chris Bowden (saxophone), Tom Hill (bass/vocals), Miles Levin (drums), and Néstor Pedrales (percussion), Edgar offers his own interpretation of the iconic record through fresh Latin jazz arrangements of its timeless songs.
‘A superb quintet (…) who collectively created a compelling mix of Cuban percussive rhythm and jazz improvisation on what was a careful thoughtful crafted re-arranged intoxicating project’. ‘(…) a stand up ovation from a packed enthusiastic audience’
– Paul R. Croft, The Blue Room at Lincoln, UK

The Piano Trio was the medium by which Beethoven announced himself to the world with his Op.1 set. It is followed by Helen Grime’s Miniatures, inspired by three chalk and pastel works by Whistler, which explore intimate atmospheres and subtle gradations of palate. The programme is completed by Fauré’s Piano Trio in D minor, written at the very end of the composer’s life.
Founded in Basel in 2023, Trio Archai has quickly gained international recognition through winning First Prize and Beethoven Prize at the Schoenfeld International String Competition 2025 in China, and First Prize at the 72nd Royal Over-Seas League Competition 2024 in London. Their performances have taken them to prestigious venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall, St George’s Bristol, Schaffhausen Klassik, Swiss Chamber Music Festival, and Whittington Festival.
The name Archai (pronounced “Ark-ai”), from the Ancient Greek for “origins” or “first principles”, reflects the ensemble’s shared musical values and their commitment to grow together.
Kindly supported by The Albert and Eugenie Frost Music Trust.

Finnish for “Hem”, Päärme is a creative exploration of craftsmanship in music. Inspired by sewing, Wennäkoski stitches together a delicate soundworld of shimmering pulses and playful canons. It is paired with Beethoven’s noble “Archduke” Trio.
The Paddington Trio has been recognised in international competitions and live performances for their fresh interpretations and exuberant energy. Like Paddington Bear – after whom the trio takes its name – Finnish violinist Tuulia Hero, Irish cellist Patrick Moriarty and American pianist Stephanie Tang have made London their home and emerged as an ensemble of an entirely unique and lasting entity. The trio is celebrated for its close and energetic communication, insightful and imaginative programming as well as its highly refined ensemble playing.
Paddington Trio are the recipients of the Richard and Gillie Cave Bursary.

Get ready for a heart-steeped night of Australian country music as two powerhouse acts share the spotlight: Charlotte Le Lievre and the Double Dole Stringband. Together, they deliver a double headliner built for anyone who loves twang, truth, and a good yarn. Expect harmonies that wrap around you, tunes that travel from tender to rollicking, and a night that celebrates the beating heart of Australia’s country tradition.
Charlotte Le Lievre writes country songs that cut deep — honest, raw, and grounded in real life. With a voice that’s equal parts vulnerable and commanding, her music pulls from early country and folk traditions to make sense of grief, joy, resistance, and the stories we carry.
Charlotte spent her 20s hitchhiking, living at blockades in remote corners of the continent, and learning how to live with grief. Her style and sound combine the richness of that life experience with a deep admiration for the roots of country and folk music.
Double Dole Stringband play innovative, original and driving old-time tunes. Holding down the fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and vocals ranging sweet to rowdy, they’ve become stalwarts at venues around their hometown of Naarm/Melbourne, as well as folk festivals across the continent. Inspired by death, political discourse, animus for police and love of native birds, DDSB will have you tapping your toes so hard you’ll forget about your misspent taxes.

In July 1945 Britten and Menuhin gave a series of concerts in the liberated concentration camps. One of their recitals took place at Belsen: in the audience was the cellist Anita Lasker (later Lasker-Wallfisch) who had been transferred there from Auschwitz where she had been a cellist in the women’s orchestra. She later vividly recalled the performance, particularly Britten’s playing: “He was completely unobtrusive and yet I found myself transfixed by him sitting there as if he wouldn’t say boo to a goose – but playing to perfection”. Menuhin also paid tribute to his pianist:
“He didn’t accompany me, I didn’t accompany him, we simply played as one.”
The music performed during these recitals has been pieced together through camp survivor testimony, including that of Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, and is performed in this recital as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the war in the camps, and to those who survived its unimaginable horrors. The versatile Polish violinist Maria Włoszczowska is joined by James Baillieu at the piano for this memorable tribute.
