A major instrumentalist, a droll raconteur and perilously close to becoming a Jazz Knight, Alan Barnes has won numerous UK Jazz awards for best clarinettist and saxophonist and is one of the UK’s most treasured jazz musicians. His session and side-man work includes spells with Björk, Bryan Ferry, Michel LeGrande, Jamie Cullum and even the boy band Westlife (though he wasn’t singing on that gig). Join us for a night rich in anecdotes, virtuosity and swing as Alan takes us through a selection of his own material and a tour of cool-school swing, burning standards and ballads to break your heart. The Jim Watson trio is Jim Watson (piano), Simon Thorpe (bass) and George Double (drums).
