An eclectic programme that combines Pärt with Beethoven from an ensemble that also specialises in rediscovered treasures.Arvo Pärt’s Mozart-Adagio commemorates its violinist dedicatee by transcribing one of the most affecting movements of Mozart’s piano sonatas, the Adagio from the Sonata in F – a touching tribute to a dear friend. Muczynski’s musical language combines Bartok with Barber, and his Fantasy Trio is a distinctive and moving piece. Ries’ second trio combines warmth with virtuosity, while Beethoven’s ‘Gassenhauer’ trio takes its inspiration from the street song of that name and is a work of beautiful balance and colour. In physics, a quantum is the minimum amount of any physical entity involved in an interaction and for this reason is indivisible. Music, as a quantum, is the essence that brings this trio together.
