Two Britten Pears Young Artists who formed a duo when they met at the Aldeburgh Festival 2022 return to Aldeburgh’s Jubilee Hall for a lunchtime concert of music for clarinet and piano.

The Brien-Hao clarinet-piano duo was formed at the beginning of 2022, made up of clarinettist Raymond Brien and Pianist Rob Hao. Both Raymond and Rob are award-winning soloists and came together at the 2022 Aldeburgh Festival as Britten Pears Young Artists in a masterclass with Nicholas Daniel in Jubilee Hall.

The Brien-Hao duo continually pushes for developing new and varied programmes which include new music, standard repertoire and re-imaginations of art song. In this concert they present music by Schumann, Debussy, Howells and their own arrangement of songs from Boulanger’s song cycle, Clairières dans le Ciel.

*Quatuor Mona is no longer able to perform in this concert due to illness. Britten Pears Arts is grateful to Raymond Brien & Rob Hao for stepping in.

Each Friday from January to March we welcome some of the best young ensembles from the UK and abroad to Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall for Britten Pears Arts’ Friday Lunchtime Concert series.
