Hear the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists and winners of the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition playing Schulhoff and Brahms in our series of concerts by the sea.

The Berlin-based Quartet bring an evocative programme of Schulhoff’s Five Pieces for String Quartet, dedicated to Darius Milhaud. The Schulhoff is contrasted with Brahms’ first string quartet.

The Leonkoro Quartet won numerous prizes at the 2022 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, widely recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious quartet competitions, including overall first prize, and the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme Prize. The quartet, comprising violinists Jonathan Schwarz and Amelie Wallner, violist Mayu Konoe and cellist Lukas Schwarz, was also awarded grand first prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet, as well as the audience prize and the young public prize. Recently named as BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists for 2022 to 2024, we will be hearing lots more from Leonkoro Quartet.
