The Isla String Quartet perform Caroline Shaw’s Plan & Elevation, a piece commemorating the 75thanniversary of Dumbarton Oaks, nestled amongst contrasting Haydn and Shostakovich quartetsThe quartet are comprised of students from the Royal Academy of Music (RAM). They were selected to be a member of the RAM Advanced Specialist Strings Ensemble Training Scheme this year, generously funded by the Frost Trust, and receive coachings from John Myerscough, cellist of the renowned Doric String Quartet. As a newly formed quartet, they have exciting projects coming up including a lunchtime recital at RAM in February and collaborating with pianist Sherri Lun to perform Dvorak’s 2nd Piano Quintet at Drapers Hall in May.

 

Each Friday from January to March we welcome some of the best young ensembles from the UK and abroad to Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall for Britten Pears Arts’ Friday Lunchtime Concert series.
