The gentle melodies of Schumann’s Fantasy pieces take centre stage in this concert from a trio acclaimed for their passionate and accomplished performances. The gentle melodies of Schumann’s Fantasy pieces take centre stage in this concert from an ensemble acclaimed for their passionate and accomplished performances. In contrast, Turina’s Círculo is brooding and passionate, wearing its heart on its sleeve and Rabl’s Quartet, dedicated to Brahms, uses the full expressive potential of the instruments. Strongly influenced by the music of Brahms and Schumann, the work takes the listener on a journey from the rich harmonies of its opening movement to an exhilarating finale, via the sombre variations and charmingly laidback melodies of its slower inner movements. Helix Trio are joined by clarinettist Yan Mařatka for this programme
